What are NFTs? Why is there a big social media coverage about them? Why does it have to do with artists and digital art?
According to CNN, "Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, are pieces of digital content linked to the blockchain, the digital database underpinning cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ethereum. Unlike NFTs, those assets are fungible, meaning they can be replaced or exchanged with another identical one of the same value, much like a dollar bill."
Artists are using NFTs to earn money for their original work. In the beginning, critics called NFTs a scam and called it a waste of time. However, NFTs gained momentum in the digital art world and more artists are relying on NFTs to gain publicity and money.
